The Ministry of Environment of Bulgaria (Ministerstvoto na okolnata sreda i vodite, MOV) assures that there is no threat to the territorial waters and coast of the country. More information about the situation can be found on the official website of the department: link.
The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts reports strong westerly winds in the coming days. Associate Professor Nikolay Valchev, an expert in hydrodynamics from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), notes that such weather conditions contribute to the formation of an anticyclonic vortex. This vortex restrains the spread of pollution from the Kerch Strait, limiting it to a narrow area of the north-eastern part of the Black Sea.
Experts continue to monitor the situation using satellite data and models. MOV guarantees prompt information to the public in case of changes.
