According to a rating by William Russell, a company that provides insurance services to "expats" - people living outside their home country, Bulgaria has taken first place among European countries in popularity among expats.
In the list of 10 countries in the world where the growth of the expat population has been the most significant since 1990, South Korea took the lead. The number of expats there increased from 43,000 in 1990 to more than 1.7 million in 2020.
Bulgaria took fourth place in the world, but first in Europe, as the number of expats in this country increased from 21,000 in 1990 to 184,000 in 2020.
Following Bulgaria in Europe are such countries as Spain, Serbia, Malta, Iceland, Finland and Turkey.
At the same time, William Russell experts clarified that the rating does not record the absolute number of emigrants, but the dynamics of their growth over the past 30 years.
