Bulgaria is confidently and boldly aiming for a successful tourist season, expecting over 13 million foreign visitors this year. This figure exceeds the level of 2019, when the country was visited by 12.5 million tourists, indicating a 7% increase. Such an increase is especially impressive considering that Bulgaria's population, according to the latest World Bank data (2022), is about 6.5 million people.
In the first three months of 2024, the number of foreign tourists increased by a significant 25-30%. However, in June, a decline of 4% was recorded compared to the same period in 2019. The main reasons for this decline are related to shortcomings in the tourist offer on the coast, as well as the lack of digitalization and modern marketing approaches.
